Thoughts
I wanted to draw a woman. I asked AI for a reference picture, but as always they gave very plastic/fake looking pictures. The women were too shiny, their skin too clear, their eyes oversized with vaguely sexual expressions. I tried lots of different combinations to get different prompts. In the end, the image I used came from asking AI to generate an ugly woman. Apparently this woman is ugly by a robot's standards.
This kind of inspired me to try and create a relatable image. A fairly generic (altough ethnicity is anything but) woman, with a vibe we can all relate to. I'm not totally sure exactly what singular feeling or emotion I wanted, but rather a face that could be interpreted depending on the viewers own feelings. To me, she is sad, bored, distracted, dissosciating, envious, tired, lost, deflated, stubborn...but most importantly not ugly. She is human.

Chalks
Process
This was my first "piece" using the soft pastels/chalks so I was learning what could be done with them.
After initial sketches, I blocked in colour then started using different bleding tools (stubs, blending pencils, putty, tissue) to refine the shapes and blend colours.
I found the chalks quite forgiving although had to be careful of overworking the paper.
