Alien emotions and Intrusive Thoughts

This began as a doodle. I was watching TV and doodled a weird little alien (see process photos below). I wanted each one to be different but all of the aliens near the centre show sad/worried/negative faces but the ones around the outside are happy/positive for the most part. I realised these were like emotions popping up. The healthy ones try to keep the bad parts contained and regulated, almost like a line of defense. If there was a war between emotions, how would they fight? My answer was intrusive thoughts. To me, those are represented by the bubbles, possibly showing their fragility and unpredictability. I have used bubbles for thoughts before (see 'Thoughts'). I considered leaving them as black and white but I wanted more of a contrast and fading colours with pencil is very satisfying!
